Abstract

Environmental issues have become a big issue in the world. It’s associated with the development in a globalizing world that focuses on research related to human needs, namely the field of industry, technology, and energy. The challenge ahead is how to advance these fields without forgetting the environmental aspects. Environmental issues are certainly felt by all countries in the world, not least in Indonesia. Indonesia is a country located in the subduction zone. This makes Indonesia have large energy reserves, reserves of fossil energy such as oil, gas, and coal, and also non-fossil energy such as geothermal energy, water, wind, and sun. Even the mineral wealth is very abundant in Indonesia. Its growth was very significant. However, progress in the field of energy development cause new problems, namely environmental issues. Due to the fact that Indonesia is still very dependent on fossil energy, especially oil. Carbon emissions resulting from fossil energies have an impact on the environmental conditions in Indonesia. Geothermal is one form of energy available in Indonesia are a number of very abundant. This energy is well-known environmentally friendly, renewable and sustainable. Geothermal energy can be an alternative solution for the independence and energy security in Indonesia without forgetting the environmentally friendly.

Analisa Kepuasan Peserta Program SGI Angkatan III Menggunakan Metode Servqual

ABSTRAK

Salah satu faktor yang menjadi penyebab mengapa mutu pendidikan kita masih rendah dan jauh dari harapan yaitu jumlah dan kualitas guru belum memadai serta penyebaran yang belum merata. Untuk itulah Divisi Pendidikan Dompet Dhuafa hingga kini telah aktif membantu masyarakat untuk mendapatkan pendidikan berkualitas melalui berbagai program yang salah satunya melalui jejaring Sekolah Guru Indonesia. Pengukuran kualitas layanan Program SGI didasarkan pada business process yang terdapat dalam program. Survei kepuasan pelanggan dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi tingkat kepuasan peserta terhadap penyelenggaraan program Sekolah Guru Indonesia (SGI). Penelitian menggunakan metode survei meliputi enam kriteria kualitas pelayanan jasa dalam program SGI yang dijabarkan ke dalam 55 butir indikator dan dinilai dengan menggunakan skala likert terhadap dua bagian yaitu bagian ekspektasi dan persepsi. Untuk pengukuran kepuasan peserta digunakan metode Servqual (Service Quality) untuk mendapatkan indeks kepuasan pelanggan.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, kriteria yang memperoleh skor tertinggi dari segi pelaksanaan adalah kriteria pengajar yaitu sebesar 3.91. Hal ini menunjukkan pelayanan SGI dalam  hal kualitas pengajar dianggap hampir sangat sesuai dengan harapan peserta. Sedangkan nilai gap tertinggi terdapat pada kriteria pengelola SGI dan pembina asrama yaitu sebesar -1.55. Semakin besar nilai negatif suatu gap pada suatu kriteria layanan maka semakin besar pula prioritas peningkatan kualitas pelayanan dari kriteria tersebut. Berdasarkan rentang skala kepuasan terdapat tiga kriteria yang memperoleh nilai tinggi yaitu kriteria Pengajar, Materi dan Metode, serta Peningkatan Kompetensi dengan nilai masing-masing 87.08%, 85.39%, dan 84.53%. Hal ini berarti peserta SGI merasa sangat puas dengan pelayanan SGI pada tiga kriteria tersebut.

ABSTRACT

One factor that may caused quality of our education is low and far from the expectations is the amount and quality of teachers has not enough and that has not been spread evenly. To solve the problem, Education Division of Dompet Dhuafa until now has been actively helping people to obtain quality education through a variety of programs that one of them is Sekolah Guru Indonesia (SGI). Service quality measurement of SGI based on business process in the program. Customer satisfaction survey was conducted to identify the level of satisfaction of participants (students) in the SGI implementation. This research using the survey method includes six criteria for quality of service in the SGI program that translated into 55 indicators and were assessed using likert scale of two parts: expectations and perceptions. To measure satisfaction of participants used the SERVQUAL (Service Quality) method to get the customer satisfaction index.

The results showed, the criteria that has the highest score is for teachers that is equal to 3.91. It means that the quality of  SGI service for this criteria is most highly regarded educators in accordance with the expectations of participants. While, there is the highest gap in the management criteria of the SGI and dormitory supervisors at -1.55. It means that this criteria has the greater priority to improve its quality. Based on the satisfaction scale range there are three criteria (teachers, materials and methods, competence increasing) that get a higher percentage than other criteria with each value 87.08%, 85.39% and 84.53%. This means that participants were very satisfied with SGI service on this three criteria.

Cegah Diabetes dengan Rempeyek Lidah Mertua

ABSTRAK

Indonesia termasuk dalam daftar negara yang memiliki potensi untuk menjadi pengisi buku tamu dalam urutan pengidap penyakit diabetes. Penyakit Diabetes Mellitus (DM) yang juga dikenal sebagai penyakit kencing manis atau penyakit gula darah adalah golongan penyakit kronis yang ditandai dengan peningkatan kadar gula dalam darah sebagai akibat adanya gangguan sistem metabolisme dalam tubuh, dimana organ pankreas tidak mampu memproduksi hormon insulin sesuai kebutuhan tubuh. Karya ilmiah ini bertujuan untuk membuat formulasi ekstrak Lidah Mertua dalam bentuk rempeyek yang berkhasiat sebagai pencegah diabetes.

Berdasarkan hasil uji organoleptik, rempeyek lidah mertua mendapat nilai lebih unggul pada tiga atribut mutu yang diuji yaitu warna, aroma dan kekerasan. Sedangkan pada atribut mutu rasa gurih, rempeyek lidah mertua memiliki rasa gurih yang tidak berbeda dengan rempeyek biasa. Hal ini menunjukkan dengan komposisi yang tepat, ekstrak lidah mertua dapat dibuat menjadi rempeyek yang dapat disukai oleh konsumen. Kandungan fenol seperti asam galat yang terdapat pada ekstrak lidah mertua dapat mencegah penyakit diabetes karena senyawa asam galat dapat memperlancar sistem pencernaan tubuh pada manusia sehingga organ pankreas dapat aktif memproduksi hormon insulin kembali sesuai kebutuhan tubuh. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Lidah Mertua dapat diolah menjadi produk rempeyek yang berkhasiat untuk mencegah diabetes.

ABSTRACT

Indonesia is included in the list of countries that have the potential to be a guest book in the order of filling people with diabetes. Diabetes Mellitus (DM), also known as diabetes or blood sugar disease is a type of chronic disease characterized by elevated levels of sugar in the blood as a result of disturbances in the body’s metabolic system, where pancreas unable to produce insulin that body needs. This research aims to make a mother in law-tongue extract formulation that has efficacious to prevent diabetes. This extract will be mixed with other ingredients and made as  “rempeyek”.

The result shows that “rempeyek lidah mertua” get the higher point for three criteria tested: colour, smell, and crispiness than “common rempeyek”.  But for flavor criteria, “rempeyek lidah mertua” has the same point to other. It means that, this “rempeyek lidah mertua” has the same flavor with “common peyek”. So that, with the right composition, we can make “rempeyek” that can be like by costumers. However, based on study of important metabolite of mother in law-tongue extract which is contain in “rempeyek”, the result shows that this product still contains  a few of important metabolites such as Gallic Acid where it has efficacious to prevent diabetes. Gallic Acid can activated pancreas to reproduce insulin that body needs. It means that, we can use mother in law-tongue extract and produce it as “rempeyek” which can use to prevent diabetes.

Aspek Kepribadian Guru Ideal dan Pembentukan Perilaku Siswa dalam Novel “Pertemuan Dua Hati”

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan dan menganalisa tentang aspek-aspek kepribadian guru ideal terhadap pengelolaan perilaku dalam novel “Pertemuan Dua Hati” karangan Nh. Dini. Meskipun penelitian ini merupakan analisis terhadap sebuah karya sastra yang ditulis lebih dari satu dekade yang lalu, tetapi pemikiran, pandangan dan persepsi imajinatif Nh. Dini dalam karyanya “Pertemuan Dua Hati” sangat relevan konteks situasinya dewasa ini. Novel ini menjelaskan sekaligus merepresentasikan bahwa tugas utama seorang guru (pendidik sejati) adalah mampu mengubah perilaku, sikap dan kebiasaan buruk siswa menjadi perilaku dan sikap yang baik. Kepribadian unggul dari seorang guru ideal merupakan poin yang sangat penting dalam memahami bagaimana sejatinya menjadi seorang pendidik. Pesan ini dapat dijadikan referensi, sekaligus bahan refleksi bagi setiap guru yang menganggap dirinya tidak saja sebagai seorang pengajar, melainkan sebagai seorang pendidik.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to describe and analyze aspects of the personality of the ideal teacher to behavior management in the novel “Pertemuan Dua Hati” by Nh. Dini. Although this study is an analysis of a literary work written more than a decade ago, but the thoughts, ideas and imaginative perception of Nh. Dini in her novel “Pertemuan Dua Hati” is very relevant to the context of the situation today. This Novel explained and described that the main task of a teacher (a true educator) is able to change behavior, attitudes and habits of students to be good. The superior personality of an ideal teacher is a very important point in understanding how to actually become an educator. This message can be used as a reference and a reflection for every teacher who considers himself not only as a teacher but as an educator.

Peningkatan Kemampuan Menulis Puisi Bebas dengan Media Musik Instrumental

ABSTRAK

Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan hasil peningkatan kemampuan menulis puisi bebas pada siswa kelas VB Semester II SDIT Birrul Waalidain, Tahun Pelajaran 2011/ 2012 setelah menerapkan media pembelajaran berupa musik intrumental. Data observasi siswa dianalisis secara kualitatif menggunakan lembar observasi keaktifan siswa dan guru. Hasil menulis puisi bebas siswa, dianalisis secara kuantitatif menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dan pembahasan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan media pembelajaran musik instrumental dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis puisi bebas siswa kelas VB Semester II SD IT Birrul Waalidain. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan adanya peningkatan hasil dari 68,12% di siklus I menjadi 80, 23% di siklus II. Peningkatan kemampuan menulis puisi bebas siswa dapat terlihat, baik dalam proses belajar mengajar maupun melalui hasil karya menulis puisi bebas oleh masing-masing siswa. Pada tahap evaluasi, hasil tes siswa yang telah dievaluasi oleh observer, teman sejawat, dan peneliti menunjukkan adanya peningkatan bagi proses belajar menulis puisi bebas melalui media pembelajaran musik instrumental pada siswa kelas VB semester II SD IT Birrul Waalidain.

ABSTRACT

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to describe the increasing in the ability to write free poem  of students semester II of SDIT Birrul Waalidain at VB class after applying instrumental music medium. Student observation data were analyzed qualitatively using the observation sheet activeness of students and teachers. The results of the students free poem, were analyzed quantitatively using descriptive analysis. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the application of instrumental music can improve students’ ability to write free poem. This is indicated by an increase from cycle I to cycle II. The results obtained from the cycle I is 68.12% and cycle II is 80, 23%. Increased ability to write free poem can be seen, both in teaching and learning process and through the work of writing free poem by each student. In the evaluation phase, the test results of students who have been evaluated by the observers, peers and the researchers showed an increase for the teaching of writing free poem through the instrumental music medium in the semester II students of SD IT Birrul Waalidain.

Peningkatan Kemampuan Menulis Puisi Bebas dengan Teknik Arkostik

PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS PUISI BEBAS DENGAN TEKNIK MENULIS AKROSTIK PADA SISWA KELAS VA MI SEMPLAK PILAR, KABUPATEN BOGOR*

ABSTRAK

Salah satu materi pembelajaran Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia yang dianggap sulit oleh siswa adalah puisi. Kesulitan ini dikarenakan menulis puisi membutuhkan proses dan sangat dipengaruhi oleh kebiasaan siswa. Salah satu strategi menyikapinya yang cukup mudah dan menyenangkan adalah dengan cara menguraikan nama diri. Menulis puisi dengan cara seperti ini akan menjadi pengalaman bermakna bagi siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil peningkatan kemampuan menulis puisi bebas pada siswa kelas VA Semester II MI Semplak Pilar, Kabupaten Bogor setelah menerapkan teknik menulis akrostik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan dua siklus. Satu kali pertemuan di siklus I dan dua kali pertemuan di siklus II. Data observasi siswa dan guru dianalisa secara kualitatif dengan lembar observasi keaktifan siswa dan guru. Adapun hasil menulis puisi bebas siswa dianalisis secara kuantitatif dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif.

Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan teknik menulis akrostik dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis puisi bebas siswa kelas VA Semester II MI Semplak Pilar. Peningkatan kemampuan siswa tersebut dapat terlihat baik dalam proses belajar mengajar maupun hasil karya menulis puisi bebas masing-masing. Pada tahap evaluasi, hasil tes siswa yang telah dievaluasi observer dan peneliti menunjukkan kemajuan yang menggembirakan bagi proses pengajaran menulis puisi bebas dengan menerapkan teknik menulis akrostik pada siswa kelas VA semester II MI Semplak Pilar.

ABSTRACT

One of the instructional material Indonesian language and literature that are considered difficult by students is poetry. The difficulties are reasonable because writing poetry requires a process and is strongly influenced by the student habits. One fairly easy and fun strategy is to decipher the name itself. Writing poetry in this way will give a meaningful experience for students. This study aims to describe the resulting increase in the ability to write free poems on VA class Semester II, MI Semplak Pilar, Bogor, after applying the acrostic writing techniques. This research is a class action with two cycles. One meeting in cycles I and two meetings in cycle II. Student and teacher observation data were analyzed qualitatively with student activity sheets and teacher observation. The results of the students free poetry writing were analyzed quantitatively using descriptive analysis.

Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the application of acrostic writing techniques can improve the ability to write free poetry VA graders MI Semplak Pilar. Increasing the ability of the student can look good in teaching and learning as well as the work of writing free poetry respectively. In the evaluation phase, the test results of students who have evaluated the observers and researchers show that encouraging progress for the teaching of writing free poetry with apply the acrostic writing technique for VA class MI Semplak Pilar students.

Meningkatkan Keterampilan Menulis Cerpen dengan Bermain Imajinasi dan Mind Map

MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS CERITA PENDEK DENGAN BERMAIN IMAJINASI DAN MIND MAP PADA SISWA KELAS X SMA SMART EKSELENSIA INDONESIA1

ABSTRAK

Menulis merupakan salah satu keterampilan dalam pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia mulai dari SD s.d. SMA. Salah satu kompetensi dasar menulis adalah menulis cerita pendek. Sebagian besar siswa mengalami kesulitan untuk menulis cerita pendek. Kesulitan ini disebabkan para siswa tidak senang menulis dan sulit untuk mengungkapkan gagasan lewat tulisan akibat dari kurangnya variasi dalam mengajar atau metode mengajar yang tidak tepat.

Bermain imajinasi dan mind map merupakan strategi baru untuk menumbuhkan rasa senang pada siswa dalam menulis cerita pendek. Dengan imajinasi, para siswa dapat berkreativitas, termasuk kreativitas dalam menulis. Peta pikiran (mind map) yang identik dengan gambar–gambar dan warna–warna sangat mempengaruhi proses berpikir seseorang dalam menuangkan gagasan. Hal ini akan memudahkan siswa dalam membuat kerangka karangan cerpen. Perpaduan bermain imajinasi dan mind map dalam menulis dapat meningkatkan keterampilan seseorang dalam menulis. Karena menulis tidak hanya mengandalkan otak kiri melainkan otak kanan pun sangat mendukung, sehingga menulis pun menjadi suatu aktivitas yang menyenangkan. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dalam penelitian yang dilakukan pada 16 orang siswa kelas X SMA SMART Ekselensia Indonesia.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, pada penelitian pertama dengan menggunakan metode ceramah dan penugasan, 10 orang siswa masih memperoleh nilai di bawah KKM. Pada penelitian kedua dengan menggunakan metode bermain imajinasi, mind map dan penugasan, nilai rata-rata kelas dalam materi menulis cerita pendek meningkat dari 68.5 menjadi 75.9 dan hanya 1 (satu) orang yang nilainya tidak mencapai KKM.

ABSTRACT

Writing is one skill in Indonesian Language ranging from elementary school up to SMA. One of the basic competence to write is to write short stories. Most students find it difficult to write short stories. This difficulty is due the students do not enjoy writing and it is difficult to express ideas in writing as a result of the lack of variety in teaching or teaching methods that are not appropriate.

Play of imagination and the mind map is a new strategy to foster a sense of fun at the students in writing short stories. With imagination, the students can creativity, including creativity in writing. Mind map which is identical to the pictures and colors greatly affect a person’s thought processes in the pouring ideas. This will facilitate students in making the outline of your short stories. The combination of imagination and play in writing a mind map can improve one’s skills in writing. Because writing is not just rely on the left brain, right brain but also very supportive so that writing becomes a fun activity. This can be evidenced in a study conducted in 16 high school students in class X SMART Ekselensia Indonesia.

Based on the results of the study, the first study using the methods of lectures and assignments, 10 students received grades below the minimum criteria of completeness. In a second study using the method of play of imagination, mind map and assignment, the average value of the class in short story writing material increased from 68.5 to 75.9 and only one student whose value does not reach the minimum criteria of completeness.

Proyek Kelas Sosial : Mencari Modal Tanpa Modal

ABSTRAK

Pembekalan keterampilan hidup merupakan kebutuhan bagi setiap peserta didik. Pembekala ini tidak lagi hanya berorientasi pada pemberian materi teoritis namun perlu ditunjang dengan pengalaman langsung, baik berupa simulasi maupun kerja nyata. Proyek Kelas Sosial “Mencari Modal Tanpa Modal” dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk memberikan pengalaman berwirausaha, menambah pengetahuan siswa tentang kewirausahaan, memotivasi siswa untuk berani menghadapi hidup tanpa harus menjadi pegawai, menumbuhkan karakteristik kewirausahaan, menumbuhkan keterampilan sosial (kemampuan bersosialisasi), dan menumbuhkan kecerdasan emosional siswa.

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua tahapan yang disebut Proyek Jilid I (satu) dan Proyek Jilid II (dua). Pada Proyek Jilid I, siswa ditantang untuk menghasilkan ide-ide usaha sederhana yang dilakukan dengan tujuan mendapatkan modal tanpa mengeluarkan uang sedikit pun. Proyek ini dilaksanakan di sela-sela waktu senggang siswa, baik di sekolah maupun di asrama. Proyek Jilid II dilaksanakan dengan tahapan awal mengumpulkan ide usaha, presentasi dan diskusi ide usaha, proses produksi, promosi, dan pemasaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan beberapa instrumen penelitian, di antaranya buku pedoman proyek, angket evaluasi siswa pelaksana, angket evaluasi konsumen dan rekanan serta wawancara.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proyek kelas sosial yang dilakukan dapat meningkatkan pengalaman dan pengetahuan kewirausahaan serta keterampilan sosial dan kecerdasan emosional siswa. Dari hasil wawancara juga diketahui bahwa proyek ini mampu melatih kemandirian siswa, meningkatkan keberanian dan kepercayaan diri serta meningkatkan kemampuan bersosialisasi siswa.

ABSTRACT

Debriefing life skills is a necessity for individual learners. Debriefing is no longer just oriented on providing theoretical material but need to be supported by direct experience, either simulated or real work. Social Class Project “Finding Capital Without Capital” was implemented with the aim of providing entrepreneurship experience, increase students’ knowledge about entrepreneurship, motivate students to dare to face life without being an employee, foster entrepreneurial characteristics, foster social skills (social skills), and foster emotional intelligence the students.

The research was conducted in two phases called Project Volume I (one) and Project Volume II (two). In Project Volume I, students are challenged to produce a simple business ideas that made for the purpose of acquiring capital without spending any money. The project is implemented on the sidelines of leisure time, either in school or in the dormitory. Volume II project implemented with the initial stages of gathering ideas of business, presentation and discussion of business ideas, the process of production, promotion, and marketing. This study uses multiple research instruments, including a project handbook, student evaluation questionnaire implementers, customers and partners the evaluation questionnaires and interviews.

Results showed that social class projects undertaken can enhance the experience and knowledge of entrepreneurship and social skills and emotional intelligence of students. From interviews well known that the project is able to exercise independence of students, enhance students’ courage and confidence and improve social skills of students.

Peer Assessment to Assess Student’s Ability

PEER ASSESSMENT AS AN ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENT TO ASSESS STUNDENT’S ABILITY IN LEARNING ENGLISH1

ABSTRACT

Based on KTSP curriculum, students have to be active in the classroom. They have to be able to do exploration and elaboration stages when they are learning English. The students who study English have to master four skills which are reading,writing, listening and speaking. This research focused on  peer assessment for writing and speaking skills.

This paper intends to describe and analyze the use of peer assessment in ESL (English as Second Language) for Junior and Senior High School Students. For that purpose, it discusses the research conducted in August 2009. The setting was at Smart Ekselensia Indonesia Junior and Senior High School.

The result of the study shows that by doing peer assessment on the speaking and writing skills, the students are able to express their ideas by analyzing their friends’ mistakes and giving some critics and opinion directly. The students are able to develop their confidence. Students can also benefit from using rubrics or checklists to guide their assessments. At first these can be provided by the instructor; once the students have more experience, they can develop them themselves.

It is suggested to use peer assessment on the classroom as as long as the teacher put the percentage as much as 60 : 40, 60 % from the teacher and 40% from the student. It is important because the teacher still can keep the objectivity of the assessment but still can involve the students to give assessment for their friends.

What is Your Classroom Management Profile?

WHAT IS YOUR CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PROFILE (DESCRIPTIVE STUDY OF CLASSROOM OBSERVATION PROGRAM IN SMART EI)

ABSTRACT

There are various ways how to improve and develop teacher’s competencies, namely self-monitoring, audiotape & video tape recordings, student’s expectation, student’s test results, & classroom observation. They can be used as  tools to evaluate the teacher’s competencies. Classroom observation program is the teacher’s professional development program in SMART EI, a boarding school for marginalized students of Indonesia.

Descriptive research used in this study is to describe teacher’s competencies in teaching situation in classroom, that is teacher aspects (personality, mastery of subject matter, voice, clarity of explanation, openness to student’s opinion), teaching methodology aspects (organization, contextual, provoke critical thinking, motivator, class management, questioning technique), and student aspects (attention, participation, class starts on time). Subjects of this study is 30 teachers who are teaching in SMART Ekselensia Indonesia. The data instruments consist of the results of class observation and notes of teacher’s reflection after teaching. The quantitative and qualitative methods used to analyze the data collected from the classroom observations.

Based on the results of data analysis found a few things as follows: (1) there is a significant correlation between teaching experience and teacher aspects; (2) no significant correlation between teaching experience and teaching methodology aspects; (3) there is a significant correlation between teacher aspects and student aspects, (4) there is a significant correlation between teaching methodology aspects and student aspects, (5) the teachers in SMART EI, at average have taught for 5,4 years, and  they also teaching experience the longest 10 years and the shortest 8 months.
